Ancestral du point de vue mécanique, mais à la page du point de vue aménagement, la Pontiac Montana tient toujours sa place au sein du marché des fourgonnettes.

Carrosserie

Disponible en deux versions, courte et allongée, et en 5 variantes, la Montana se distingue des ses jumelles et des autres fourgonnettes sur le marché par ses panneaux de polymère en bas de sa coque, trait distinctif de la marque Pontiac.

Habitacle

C'est à ce chapitre que se distingue la MontanaVision. De 6 à 8 passagers pourront y prendre place selon la version et les options d'aménagement. Sur la route la version allongée offre un meilleur confort à vide grâce évidemment à son empattement allongé. Mais une fois chargées, les deux versions ont le propre de vous assurer un confort routier agréable. Imaginez faire Montréal – Québec – Chicoutimi et même la Floride en toute quiétude, sans chicane ou si peu, les enfants écoutant leur film (DVD) et vous savourant votre musique préférée…Cela se peut : avec la MontanaVision et son système audio/vidéo avec écran rétractable et casque sans fil.

Mécanique

Ancestral, disions-nous ? Oui au niveau conception du vaillant et vénérable V6 accouplé de sa boîte automatique à 4 rapports. Toujours dans le coup et encore économe en carburant, il commence à se faire vieux.

Comportement

Tout comme le groupe motopropulseur, la suspension gagnerait à être revue pour diminuer le tangage et le rebondissement lorsque à vide et en circulation urbaine. La Montana, comme ses jumelles Venture et Silhouette, a une propension au roulis et demande qu'on ne la pousse pas dans une courbe serrée. Tout doux comme disait ma mère…

Conclusion

Encore utile, bon gagne-pain pour Pontiac et la General Motors, les fourgonnettes Montana en variante MontanaVision s'avèrent de très bons alliées en vacances et aussi au quotidien grâce à la polyvalence de leur habitacle.
