Du luxe en grand

Impressionnant, spacieux, puissant, et une belle gueule avec ça! Le GMC Yukon Denali XL rivalise même avec le Cadillac Escalade chez GM, statut en moins.

Carrosserie

Parmi les utilitaires grand format, le Denali XL se démarque par l'ensemble de son style un peu plus moderne que les autres : calandre chromée, moulure de bas de caisse, marchepieds latéraux assortis à la couleur de la carrosserie. Ce Yukon allongé mesure 557 centimètres de longueur et demande donc un œil attentif dans les déplacements urbains. À cette taille, on pourra y charger jusqu'à 3629 litres de matériel ou de bagages en rabattant les deux rangées de sièges. De plus, on peut accéder au coffre soit en abaissant la vitre électrique du hayon ou en soulevant ce dernier.

Habitacle

Neuf passagers peuvent prendre place dans cette caverne de luxe et l'accès aux places arrière est relativement facile. L'intérieur soigné et habillé de cuir du Denali est confortable et profite d'un système efficace de climatisation à trois zones et de sièges chauffants même à l'arrière. Nous avons pu profiter de la chaîne audio Bose et de ses 11 haut-parleurs grâce à l'excellente insonorisation de cet utilitaire. La position de conduite vous donne l'impression d'être au-dessus de tout, mais attention : vous avez un véhicule de 2600 kilogrammes entre les mains.

Mécanique

Le puissant moteur de 6 litres vous autorise à tirer des charges utiles de 3629 kilogrammes et vous assurera des dépassements sécuritaires en passant de 80 à 120 km/h en 6,5 secondes, mais attention au freinage, le talon d'Achille de ce mastodonte : le Yukon XL met 57 mètres pour s'arrêter de 100 à 0 km/h, distance jugée beaucoup trop longue.

Comportement

Avec la transmission intégrale de série, ce GMC tient bien la route sur toutes les surfaces. Seul l'arrière aura tendance à se dérober, mais on peut corriger aisément à condition de prévoir l'espace nécessaire.

Conclusion

Confort, habitabilité, puissance et statut discret sont les atouts de ce magnifique et pratique énergivore.
